если виртуальная машина (virtual machine) использует аппаратные ресурсы одного компьютера, то виртуальная инфраструктура - объединённые аппаратные ресурсы всей ИТ-инфраструктуры (включая компьютеры, сетевые устройства и хранилища данных), в которой могут быть сотни и тысячи машин. Виртуализация ИТ-инфраструктуры многократно повышает эффективность использования вычислительных ресурсов, упрощает подключение новых приложений, улучшает доступность, безопасность, удобство управления, сокращает время ожидания ответов на запросы и т. д.
